Music Therapy
Program Objective
The objective of music therapy is to utilize music as a therapeutic tool to address the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals. Music therapy aims to achieve specific goals and objectives, such as improving communication skills, emotional expression, physical coordination, cognitive abilities, and social interactions. The ultimate goal is to enhance the overall well-being and quality of life of individuals through musical interventions.
Program Activities
Active Listening
Participants listen to a carefully selected playlist or live music performances, allowing them to connect with emotions, memories, and sensations evoked by the music. Active listening can be a meditative and introspective activity.
Instrumental Play
Individuals play musical instruments, both traditional and non-traditional, allowing them to express themselves creatively. This activity can enhance fine and gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and tactile sensitivity.
Music-Based Relaxation
Guided relaxation exercises accompanied by calming music help individuals manage stress, anxiety, and promote a sense of relaxation and well-being. Breathing exercises and visualization techniques are often incorporated.
